To
those of you that are considering adopting a poodle puppy from Nancy Hobbs:
Hello,
my name is Rhealene (aka- Neen) I live in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan and I felt very honored to be asked to write a letter
of reference on behalf of Nancy Hobbs.
First I
would like to tell you that I am an at home poodle mommy/breeder myself and have known Nancy and her poodles for a few years.
Nancy, however, did not know me! I found Nancy’s website through a mutual friend and continued to visit her site
from time to time. What drew me to visit Nancy’s website was the obvious care and love that she has for her poodles
and their precious little babies.
This
spring I had to make a heart wrenching decision to find my little boy poodle (Sunny) a new home since I had kept one of his
little phantom girls to start my own line of phantom poodles. With tear filled eye’s I was once again on a search
to find the perfect little phantom male to add to our family and had almost given up hope. For some reason I clicked
on Nancy’s website, which I had just visited two weeks prior, and there he was…”My Little Man”!
I was so excited I could hardly type fast enough to send Nancy an email to ask if he was still available for adoption!
Nancy was very professional, considerate
and extremely patient with me even though I felt like a “kid in a candy shop”! I immediately sent Nancy
the required deposit to be ensured that he would eventually come home to me. Unfortunately, we had a couple of unforeseen
events that happened within the days to come which made me reconsider the adoption! I sent Nancy a long lengthy letter
explaining of our misfortunes and then having to tell her that I would have to withdraw from the adoption. My heart
literally broke. The next morning I received an email from Nancy that sincerely meant the world to me. In the
letter Nancy showed such compassion and understanding and generously offered to help see to it that I would get my new baby…and
I did!! (x’s and o’s)
In
the weeks to come, Nancy sent us pictures and updates of our new little boy and was being ever so patient with my non-stop
emails asking her questions about him! Then it was time for me to decide what I wanted to name him…wow that was
hard! I wanted a name that had meaning, that showed exactly how I felt about him and how he made me feel! I think
it took 2 weeks before I finally decided and it was a name that I had originally thought of right from the start…Teddy
Bear!
Sounds
original doesn’t it? To some, maybe not, but to me it means a lot, after all, I have never met a Teddy Bear I
didn’t like, have you? (giggle)
Finally,
the day came that Teddy’s journey home began! Once again, Nancy displayed true compassion, love, and care for
Teddy to see to it that he had a safe, comfortable flight home. She even went out of her way to travel 10 hours (return
trip) to see to it that his flight landed in Regina, Saskatchewan.
Teddy
immediately started to “work his charm” on the flight crew! Teddy’s flight from St. Johns landed in
Toronto and he had to be transferred to another plane. Apparently, they fed him, filled his water bottle and he flew
“First Class” with the flight crew. The pilot and crew didn’t have the heart to place Teddy in the
designated area onboard the aircraft, so he flew home right up front by the cockpit door right behind the pilot! How
sweet was that???
Myself
and 2 of my children were awaiting his arrival and were anxiously watching as they unloaded the plane. We didn’t
see Teddy anywhere! My heart was racing…was he lost?...perhaps he was placed on the wrong flight?
Behind
us there was a little whimper that sounded like a small kitten, I didn’t look since we were told where to be by the
employee’s at the airport! Then, we heard the little whimper again followed by a tiny little bark! I had
shivers running up and down my spine and my feet felt like lead weights. I turned around and there sat my little Teddy
Bear in his kennel right at the desk! I was in disbelief! I had to go to the kennel and read the names, sure enough…it
said, “From Nancy Hobbs…To Rhealene”! I know it’s against the rules of the airport, but I asked
the man at the desk if we could borrow his scissors to cut the security ties off the kennel door to get Teddy out…he
just smiled and handed me the scissors. We were all so happy to see our Teddy safe and sound and best of all…home!
We were crying, giggling and taking turns holding Teddy and smothering him in kisses and hugs!
I’m
sure you must be wondering how messy he had to have been after such a long flight from Newfoundland to Regina? He didn’t
mess at all!
When
we arrived home to Moose Jaw, he had “a lot” of business to take care of though! (giggle)
Since
Teddy has been home with us he has been an amazing little guy, a clear indication that he had received a quality upbringing
in his first delicate 8 weeks of life. He adjusted very quickly with no fears, his behavioral and basic training have
been amazing, he is the star of our family and he knows it too! Teddy has a magnetic personality but yet he is so charming
and “boyish” in everything he does. He is always happy and satisfied with what ever is going on. Teddy
is so loving and affectionate and always doing something cute to make us smile.
I
apologize for the length of this letter, but I just couldn’t see how to make this any shorter than I already did!
Nancy and her family, in my opinion, need to be acknowledged and sincerely thanked for the hours of time, love, dedication
and quality veterinary care all of the puppies have received while in their care.
I
will honestly guarantee that you can be well assured that you will receive a quality, healthy, happy puppy when adopting a
poodle puppy from Nancy and her family!
